Football Season Guide

Last season was a very troubled one for Heracles Almelo in many ways: they started with John Lammers on the bench, but after a worrying decline he was fired, and, after an interim shift by Hendrie Krüzen, he was replaced by Erwin van de Looi. With the new coach things went better, but another decline in form at the end scared their fans. Furthermore, the season was marked by many injuries, starting with that of Nikolai Laursen who never played, and then that of the other attacker Jizz Hornkamp, who was nevertheless able to score 10 goals since his return in January. During the summer the team has certainly changed face, many regulars have left and, at the moment, they have only been partially replaced. Goalkeeper Michael Brouwer has been replaced with the inexperienced Robin Mantel, as inexperienced are the youngsters Lorenzo Milani and Ivan Mesik, nothing to do with the departing Sven Sonnenberg and Navajo Bakboord. Even more worrying is the void left in attack by Emil Hansson and Ajdin Hrustić, as youngsters Juho Talvitie and Antonio Satriano do not seem to be ready yet and the condition of Croatian Luka Kulenovic is a question mark. Unless there are any new arrivals towards the end of the transfer market, Heracles look like an inexperienced team with little quality.
