An historic season starts for IFK Varnamo as it will be their first in Allsvenskan, after easily winning the Superettan last season. The club which was mostly known for veteran Jonas Thern, will fight hard to remain in the top tier of Swedish football, though. Situated in the central Sweden, IFK Värnamo is the team in the Allsvenskan that has the shortest total route to their away matches in the 2022 season (4186 km). The most important addition to the team was that of striker Marcus Antonsson who came from Malmo. The 31-year old experienced player has scored 53 goals in 170 Allsvenskan matches in his career so the newcomers will heavily rely on his goals to their effort to remain in the league. During the preseason, though, Varnamo showed signs of inexperience and that will be a main problem for coach Hellberg to handle. Especially there were a lot of problems in passing distribution and passing accuracy, something that may lead to problems when they will be consistently pressed by their oppponents.

Target

The newcomers will have to remain in Allsvenskan as their only target but it will be a tough season for them.
