Football Season Guide

After many years in the lower divisions Dender finally got back to the top flight last season. This will be their first campaign at the highest level since 2009. Dender had by far the best attack in the second tier last term, scored 55 goals in 30 rounds. They also had the fewest defeats, only 6 in 30 games, but the many draws that were registered meant that Dender finished only second. Still, this was enough for direct promotion. Coach Timmy Simons was the mastermind behind the promotion. However, in a shocking move after the end of last season he left his post for a better job offer. Vincent Euvrard was appointed as his replacement and Dender will start their first top flight season in 15 years under new leadership. Last term the main formation used was 3-1-4-2 but the new manager tested 4 different shapes this pre-season and it seems Dender might be experimenting at least in the early rounds. The only notable departure from the squad this summer so far was that of the main goalie Gies. Already, signed a replacement. Guillaume Dietsch comes from France and he is expected to become the main goalie. Bruny Nsimba scored 14 league goals last term and he should be the main hope up front again. Captain Lennard Hens also should play a key role in attack. Roman Kvet was added on loan and he’s likely to be vital in midfield. He’s a specialist in regaining possession and this will be his main job. The trio Cools-Pupe-Ruyssen have experience. They seem likely to be trusted a lot as starters in defence as a trio. The new manager needs to act fast though as 3 other centre-backs left this summer. This means that outside the 3 regulars there is no cover in defence. Dender are expected to add at least 4-5 new players in coming weeks and at least 2 of those should be centre-backs.
