In Brief

Easy home win vs. Leeds at weekend. Desire to reach League Cup final huge and expected to use strong squad. Lo Celso and Bale sidelined. Doherty suspended.

Looking Back

Tottenham scored 2 early goals when hosting Leeds on Saturday and this enough to see them cruise to 3:0 victory in the end. Once again the lethal attacking duo Kane-Son worked its magic with both of them registering goal and assist.

League Cup run so far – walked through first game without playing with automatic win, then lucky to save draw and then edge penalty shootout vs. Chelsea and in quarterfinals easy 3:1 away success vs. Stoke.

Looking Ahead

Coach Mourinho expected to rotate, but only to make squad stronger as he wants to reach Cup final. Sissoko should start after being rested at weekend, with main full-backs Aurier and Reguilon also fresh and raring to go.

Lo Celso and Bale are sidelined, while Doherty sent off at weekend and set to serve ban.

Manager Comments

Manager sees this as his biggest game as Tottenham manager thus far: "I think it is my biggest game since coming to Spurs. In the perspective of the club chasing silverware for many years I would say so. The only thing more important than semi-finals is finals."

Brentford

In Brief

Brentford in impressive 16 game unbeaten run. Could name strong side as match at weekend was called off. Goode doubtful while Norgaard one of several absentees.

Looking Back

Brentford had the weekend off as their game at home to Bristol City was called off due to Covid issues amongst their opponents.

Before that they had gone on a 16-game unbeaten run which included four straight wins, one of those was a League Cup quarter-final 1-0 win over Newcastle.

16-goal leading scorer Ivan Toney has not found the net in the last four games, a long goal drought by his standards.

Looking Ahead

Given their lack of game on Saturday, Brentford could well name their best possible side for this game.

Charlie Goode is still doubtful while Mads Roerslev, Shandon Baptiste and Christian Norgaard all remain sidelined.
