Aston Villa staged an extraordinary late fightback with three goals in the last 10 minutes to snatch a 3-3 draw against Sheffield United. Billy Sharp's hat-trick had put the Blades in total control but Tyrone Mings, Tammy Abraham and Andre Green all netted for Villa. United would have gone top if they had won but now find themselves 3rd. Villa remain adrift of play-off places.
Villa brought Mile Jedinak and Jonathan Kodjia into their starting eleven. Kieran Dowell and Gary Madine were both handed starts for Sheffield United.
Sharp gave United the lead on 11 minutes as he bundled in from close range. The goal was awarded thanks to video technology ruling it had crossed the line.
Sharp was perhaps fortunate to add a second on 53 minutes as he scored despite claims of a foul on Lovre Kalinic. Sharp completed his hat-trick with his 22nd of the campaign with an emphatic header.
Villa though dramatically found a way back in. Mings scored his first for the club on 82 minutes as he headed in from close range from Conor Hourihane's cross. Four minutes later and Abraham snatched his 20th of the season after Tommy Elphick had an effort saved.
The equaliser arrived deep into stoppage time as Green headed in from John McGinn's cross.
A dramatic fightback for Villa but unlikely to do too much in terms of their play-off bid. Sheffield United will be disappointed to miss out on top spot after a superb performance from Sharp.
