Striker John Akinde levelled from the spot to earn leaders Lincoln City a point in a 1-1 draw with Mansfield Town at Field Mill. He scored followed goalkeeper Conrad Logan's clumsy challenge on winger Harry Anderson. Defender Krystian Pearce had given the Stags an early lead but they were unable to hold on after the break.
Mansfield Town made the early running and were rewarded with an early goal; Pearce heading home from wing-back Mal Benning's superb delivery as they piled players around visiting goalkeeper Matt Gilks.
They enjoyed the better of the first half with attacking midfielders CJ Hamilton and Jorge Grant impressing in the space between the visitors midfield and back-four.
Anderson was the Imps best hope of getting back into the game in first half but inadvertently blocked a goal-bound effort from midfielder Michael Bostwick.
Pearce was outstanding in the heart of the Stags defence and kept Akinde quiet but Logan looked lacking in confidence in the home goal and cleaned out Anderson to concede a penalty which Akinde coolly converted.
The Imps had the better of the last ten minutes but were unable find a winner and the game ended all-square.
David Flitcroft felt his side would have won if they had shown more cutting edge when they were on top in the first half. Lincoln City were far from their best but fought hard to take something from the game.
