Leeds produced a marvellous performance, arguably their best of the season, as they demolished West Brom 4-0 to move to top of the league for a few hours at least. Pablo Hernandez scored after just 16 seconds and then two from Patrick Bamford and a late goal for Ezgjan Alioski made it a rout. West Brom were poor and are now six points adrift of the top two.
Leeds were unchanged despite a 1-0 loss at QPR on Tuesday. Albion brought in Tosin Adarabioyo with Kieran Gibbs missing while Hal Robson-Kanu also started.
It was an unbelievable start for Leeds who scored rapidly as Hernandez fired in from the edge of the area.
Leeds had been criticised after the QPR game for lacking energy but this was a performance full of exactly that. They were 2-0 up on 28 minutes as Bamford took advantage of impressive play by Tyler Roberts to score.
Bamford's finishing was impressive and he made it 3-0 on 63 minutes with a deflected effort. Everything Leeds touched appeared to turn to gold and they scored again in injury time as Jamie Shackleton, only seconds after coming on, set up a tap in for Alioski.
West Brom were poor in every department. Understandably the early goal hit them but they never recovered or provided anything going forward either.
An emphatic response by Leeds after such a bleak performance the other day. This was impressive. West Brom have faltered at the wrong time. They are lacking confidence of late.
