Leeds now have a three point cushion in 2nd above 3rd placed Sheffield United after they earned a nervy 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday. Jack Harrison's second half goal was enough to earn all three points. Wednesday are now 10th and their hopes of making the top six appear to be over.
Leeds opted for a wing back system as Gaetano Berardi started. Wednesday welcomed back several players including the inspirational Barry Bannan.
In the end Wednesday can have a few complaints about the result and there were indebted to Keiren Westwood for keeping them in the game for long periods.
The Wednesday keeper had made several fine saves while Leeds' attack was misfiring with Patrick Bamford again disappointing up-front.
Eventually though Harrison turned in a cross by Pablo Hernandez to earn all three points.
A big win for Leeds in a local derby too. They have not played overly well of late but it is now just a case of getting the results. They will be somewhat disappointed with their recent finishing. Wednesday were second best and did not offer a lot of their own going forward.
