Real Madrid managed to soak up Barcelona's pressure in the first half and bounced back after the break to grab a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Vinicius Junior and Mariano Diaz.
Barcelona were superior in the first half and could have taken the lead, but neither Antoine Griezmann, nor Arthur Melo or Lionel Messi managed to hit the target.
Zinedine Zidane's surprising decision to start Marcelo over Ferland Mendy bear fruit for Real Madrid. The Brazilian managed to track down and contain Messi throughout the game.
Isco produced a decent performance and missed a couple of chances to put his team in front after the break.
Vinicius was Real Madrid's most active player throughout the 90 minutes. Nelson Semedo and Gerard Pique made sure that he could't create any danger in the first half, but the Brazilian insisted and got his goal after the break.
Following Vinicius' goal, Barcelona collapsed. Ivan Rakitic and Ansu Fati came off the bench but they barely touched the ball in the remaining minutes.
Real Madrid sent in Mariano who netted with one of his first touches in his first league appearance so far this season.
It was a game of two halves. Barcelona missed several chances to take the lead. Real Madrid were lucky to go with a goalless draw to half-time, but they imposed their game on the visitors after the interval and grabbed the victory.
