Chelsea outplayed Real Madrid, hit the woodwork twice, created numerous chances and grabbed a 2-0 victory to progress to the Champions League final thanks to goals from Timo Werner and Mason Mount.
Real Madrid went for a 3-5-2 formation this time, but their experiment didn't work as Real Madrid struggled to create in attack and were outrun in defence.
Real Madrid started off better and were in control of the game for the first 25 minutes, when Edouard Mendy pulled off a huge save to deny Karim Benzema.
That chance served as a wake-up call for Chelsea, who bounced back, looked dangerous in attack and opened the scoring through Timo Werner.
Mendy produced another great save to block a Benzema header 36 minutes in and that was practically Real Madrid's last clear chance in the game.
After Benzema's wasted opportunity, it was all Chelsea. The Blues dominated and outplayed Real Madrid in the remaining minutes of the first half and after the break, when they could have scored three or four goals had they been more clinical.
A brilliant Kai Havertz was unlucky to hit the crossbar, with N'Golo Kante and Mason Mount also missing huge chances, before the latter put the game to bed.
Real Madrid decided to start an unfit Sergio Ramos, who had played four games in 2021, play left-winger Vinicius as a right wingback and start Eden Hazard, who has yet to rediscover his form, bue their experiment didn't work out. Chelsea were a team with more energy than the visitors and were superior on the pitch.
