It was another underwhelming season for AC Ajaccio, who spent just five weeks in the top half all campaign - and none after mid-October - before finishing in 11th place. That meant a third straight bottom-half finish for Olivier Pantaloni's side, who have played second fiddle to local rivals Gazelec in that period having previously always been the dominant force in the Corsican town. However, after finishing just one place above the relegation zone in each of the previous two seasons, this was an improvement. Indeed, Ajaccio were never in the bottom three at any point and finished 10 points clear of the drop zone, not bad given Pantaloni had declared before the start of the campaign that staying up would be "a great achievement."
As has become habit in recent years, Ajaccio were once again dreadful away from home. However, they were as difficult to beat as ever at their own Stade Francois-Coty, with only champions RC Strasbourg and Troyes, who finished third, collecting more points at home. They lost just four times in front of their own fans, with two of those losses curiously coming against relegated duo Red Star and Laval. Riad Nouri was the outstanding performer, with 11 goals and nine assists, while Mouaad Madri contributed 10 goals and five assists. Pape Abou Cisse, the giant Senegalese centre-back, impressed enough to earn himself a move to Greek champions Olympiakos on a four-year deal this summer. Away from the league, Ajaccio ran Monaco close in the Coupe de France before losing 2-1 in the round of 64 in January.
