Akhmat made early managerial change, inexperienced Ledyakhov was sacked after only 6 rounds and the ex-boss Rakhimov took charge for the rest of the season, with this not enough to see the team challenging for Europe. At least the Chechens stayed out of trouble pretty much all throughout.
The lack of cutting edge remained main issue throughout the campaign with the early injury of winger Roshi and the poor form of Balaj and Mbenge before the winter break not helping in this department.
Akhmat proved that on a good day they could beat anyone with away victories vs. Spartak and Krasnodar, but they also struggled to score goals against sides that sit deep and only draws were achieved vs. strugglers Enisey, Anzhi and Dinamo.
This pattern of the results continued right until the end of the campaign and this was the main reason why Akhmat failed to move close enough to the top 5.
Ravanelli had very good spring, but the one player that was above all was Ismael. Used both as holding and attacking midfielder he felt comfortable no matter where playing.
Akhmat have been struggling to score goals for 4 consecutive years now and only if they find a reliable centre forward this summer they will be able to push for better finish next season.
