Paços de Ferreira had an under-par season that was always just enough to keep a safe distance from trouble positions in the table. Carlos Pinto started the season as Paços gaffer but, by the time the season was at the 11th round, with Paços at 15th in the table with only 2 victories collected, the board decided to sack him and replace him by Vasco Seabra. Paços never had a breakthrough moment and got into the first half of the season, but undoubtedly Seabra brought more quality into Castores’ game and helped to put the team always far from heavy trouble.
During the entire season, Paços de Ferreira had to cope with an abnormal amount of injured players that definitely had an influence in the way the team evolved in the league. Defenders Ricardo and Miguel Vieira, two first team options during most of the first half of the season, missed pretty much the entire second half due to injuries. Midfielder Romeu was injured the entire season, while several other midfielders like Minhoca, Pedrinho or Mateus had several small injuries during the campaign. In the attack, while Cícero spent most time out with injury than actually available, star of the team Welthon picked an injury that took him out of the final third of the season.
Still, Welthon was the best scorer of the team, with 11 goals. His quality set him apart from the rest of the squad. But there were other quality players throughout the season: wingers Ricardo Valente and Ivo Rodrigues, as well as all-round attacker Barnes Osei were slightly inconsistent, but had good periods in between themselves. In the midfielder, Pedrinho was always a solid piece, while versatile Marco Baixinho, either in midfield or at the back, was a reliable option for the team.
