Football Season Review

№11: Bodø/Glimt

Bodo/Glimt went into the last game of the season knowing that they could potentially still be relegated, although it would have taken an awful lot of bad luck for Kjell Knutsen's side to experience that fate. In the end they were comfortable after a battling 1-1 draw against Rosenborg at Lerkendal, with the hosts already thinking about the post match celebrations and Europa League tie to come. But Bodo/Glimt shouldn't really have been anywhere near the relegation places in the first place. They are on a dreadful run though, with the last eight games being winless, and their last three points were claimed at the beginning of September. The draw to Valerenga before the international break was a sign of a team who were trying their best, but have just run out of puff in the autumn months. The news that Philip Zinckernagel was unavailable for the last game was another huge blow, as he was the stand out performer for Kjetil Knutsen's side, particularly after players like Ulrik Saltnes who shone earlier in the season went very quiet when the leaves started to fall. Bodo/Glimt live to fight another day, but they need to start next season much stronger than they finished this one. They were one of two of the three newly promoted teams that made it through the season unscathed, and they will look on that as a huge success.
