Football Season Review

№15: Levante

Levante’s goal was to avoid relegation and they achieved this, so this season has to be considered a positive one. They started the season very well before sliding down towards the danger zone, but never fell so far as to be in real trouble. Levante were a fun team to watch as they were very good in attack (59 goals, the fourth-most scored in the whole league) and very bad in defence (66 goals, the second-most conceded in the whole league). Jose Luis Morales was phenomenal as he linked the midfield with the attack and also scored goals of his own, while his supporting cast or Roger Marti, Borja Mayoral and Enis Bardhi helped put the ball in the back of the net as well. It was a good thing that Levante scored so many goals because they were porous at the back, even when they played three centre-backs. They didn’t get much help from the goalkeeping position either, with both of their shot-stoppers struggling when used. Levante were the kind of team that went through spells. There was a four-match winning run at one point, but also a nine-match winless run at another point. They were hot and then cold. Coach Paco Lopez did a good job overall and achieved his objectives, but greater consistency will be one thing for Levante to target next season as they once again look to retain their top-flight status.
