Khimki secured the title in the Russian second tier last season in order to return to the top-flight after just one season outside of the Russian Premier League. Franc Artiga will continue to lead the side in what is set to be a difficult task to stay up. However, there have been plenty of changes to the squad. In particular, the experienced Anton Zabolotnyi will be tasked in adding quality up top, alongside Aleksandr Rudenko who bagged 13 league goals last term for the side. Lucas Vera looks set to be a tidy addition in the middle of the park. He has gained experience in the RPL with Orenburg of late. Meanwhile, Nemanja Andjelkovic, Artur Yusupov and Aleksandr Filin all add more quality and depth to the side. Former Khimki man Reziuan Mirzov has also made a return so he bolsters the forward options. Khetag Khosonov, who captained the side last year, will look to lead from the middle of midfield. He is set to play an important role in the team. As for departures, the loss of Mory Gbane will be felt after he left for Portuguese outfit Gil Vicente, while the experience lost in the form of Ravil Neftullin could be important too.
