Valery Karpin was unable to deliver back-to-back top four finishes for Rostov last term as his side fell to seventh-place for the 2023/24 campaign. He will be in charge once again as the club looks for an improvement this time around. Rostov have seen a few squad improvements in the signings of Rodrigo Saravia, the full transfer of Oumar Sako, Rustam Yatimov, Hidajet Hankic and Konstantin Kuchaev. Loan returns in Pontus Almqvist and Armin Gigovic would improve the squad much furter, but they are likely to depart at some point this summer. However, there could be a place in the squad for the likes of Roman Tugarev, Maksim Turishchev, Nikolai Poyarkov and Stepan Melnikov following their loan spells. In terms of outgoings, there has been a big chance in goal. That's because both Sergey Pesjakov and Nikita Medvedev have left the side. One of Yatimov or Hankic will be looking to step up. Other than that, there have been no other major departures, apart from Magnus Knudsen who was always going to leave the club. Last season's March Player of the Month Mohammad Mohebi will be hoping to build upon a promising season in which he provided nine goal contributions. Yegor Golenkov will be tasked with leading the line once more. He scored eight league goals last term.
