A roster reset did not work out for Vancouver Whitecaps who endured their worst ever campaign since their inaugural season in the MLS, finishing bottom of the Western Conference standings and well short of the playoffs spots. Vancouver have once again looked to churn their roster and have let go of a number of first choice players, including captain Jon Erice who was released at the end of the season. Other significant departures include Doneil Henry, Lass Bangoura and Scott Sutter who was a regular in the lineup last season. Lucas Cavallini is the biggest name arriving in the off-season with Vancouver spending big on the Canadian striker. They have also looked to bolster their midfield, bringing in the likes of Cristian Dajome, Leonard Owusu and David Milinkovic, the latter arriving on loan from English club Hull City. Marco Dos Santos has held on to his job over the off-season and the Canadian coach has got some good players in the roster including Maxime Crepeau, Erik Godoy and Inbeom Hwang but Vancouver are still a work in progress with question marks all over the pitch and players will need to step up big time if Vancouver are to enjoy a better season compared to the last campaign.

Target

Dos Santos will be satisfied with Vancouver remain in the playoffs race for majority of the campaign but, unless they show marked improvement, another season of disappointment awaits.
