Football Season Review

№5: Bohemians

Bohemians' main goal going into the season was to stay clear of danger and they achieved that goal quite comfortably, as they all but secured their survival with a quarter of the season to go or so and finished fifth, far closer to the top four than to the bottom three in terms of points. The Bohs had a poor scoring and an excellent defensive record and were the Premier League side whose games produced the fewest goals, but recorded only five draws despite that. Keith Long was obviously willing to take risks late in games and saw his side win fourteen times, most out of all sides outside the top three and this was the reason why his side finished as high up as they have. The Dubliners were pretty consistent all season, with the sole notable exception to this being a spell between the end of March and the middle of May, which saw them record six defeats and a victory. The main reason for their struggles during that stage was an injury suffered by Dinny Corcoran, who finished as their by far best scorer with 15 goals to his name, a feat made even more impressive by the fact that he missed a third of the season. The dependence that his side have on their top scorer is arguably the only issue that Long may be looking to address during the upcoming winter break. However, the emergence of Warren O'Hora and his side's overall work ethic and team work are all major positives for the Bohs' boss.
