A positive top-half performance for the third year in a row. Moreirense is establishing as a firm top flight team, playing a pleasant yet competent football yet again.
Moreirense presented a solid, balanced team that showed a consistent performance during the season. But there was a time when the fans feared the season could have been a worse one.
Coach Ricardo Soares was surprisingly sacked after a decent start (allegedly for not providing an attractive football, regardless of results), and the unexperienced César Peixoto was brought in. The replacement did considerably worse and left the club less than 2 months later.
Then, Vasco Seabra arrived, and the team finally started to be competitive while playing the type of football that the board and fans seemed to have wanted for this season.
Midfielder Filipe Soares confirmed the skills he showed last season and should be hard to keep him on the club for much longer. Luckily, the squad seems to have more depth this season, with good competition for almost every spot.
It will be crucial to have goalkeeper Mateus Pasinato back to fitness after important injury picked near the end of the season. Pasinato is the type of goalkeeper Moreirense will want to build the next team around of. Keeping coach Vasco Seabra would be an excellent move too.
