Football Season Guide

There was improvement from the previous campaign as head coach Zorniger guided Furth to a top-half finish in his first full season in charge. The Cloverleaf were in fine form at the turn of the year but a poor February and March saw their promotion hopes fade. Furth will be looking to push on further this season as the rebuild continues under Zorniger. Most of the regulars remain on board with the exception of talented striker Sieb, who inevitably made the step up to the Bundesliga and midfielder Wagner after his loan ended. Mustapha could be the goal-getter on loan from Italian club Como, but time will tell. Goalkeeper Urbig has also returned to his parent-club after featuring prominently in the last campaign. Noll is hoping to follow in his footsteps as he joins on loan from Hoffenheim, but with Korber the only other keeper at present, more may be required in that department. There have been six new faces brought in so far and all are under 24 years of age. A youthful looking side overall but they do still have some key experienced players such as Hrgota, Green, and Gießelmann. Winger Massimo is the pick of the new signings after previously playing for Stuttgart, if they can keep him fit, then he could be an exciting addition. Furth are likely to be entertaining to watch with an unpredictability that will cause problems for the opposition. At home they are usually strong but their form on the road must improve if they are to finish higher.
