Genk won their fourth title in what was extremely successful season that saw the Blues spending 90% of the time in first place and not giving any chance to their rivals.
From the start things looked good with Genk unbeaten in the opening 15 rounds (10 wins and 5 draws), plus they impressed in the group stage of Europa League too with the amount of goals scored.
Main striker Samatta deservedly won the Golden Boot at the end of the season, up until his departure at the end of the regular season in March Pozuelo was excellent too. However, the most consistent member of the squad was Malinovsky, who also scored crucial goals in 3 games against direct rivals for the title.
Some doubts over the title credentials were witnessed at the end of the regular season (February-March) when Genk first exited Europa League earlier than expected and also won just 1 of 5 domestic games.
However, 6 wins in first 7 play-off games quickly dispersed all worries and 1:1 away draw in penultimate round vs. Anderlecht was enough to deliver the title.
With Pozuelo no longer in the squad and also the title-winning coach Clement departing in shocking move at the end of the season Genk have serious rebuilding job in their hands for the new campaign.
