Football Season Review

№14: Brommapojkarna

Brommapojkarna had a tough old season back in the top flight, and their Allsvenskan status still hangs in the balance, with a two legged relegation play off against AFC Eskilstuna coming up in the next few weeks. But they should welcome the chance of retaining their top flight status having looked dead and buried a couple of weeks ago. Wins in the last two games against Elfsborg and already doomed Trelleborg will see them go into their two legged play off surely in much better spirits than they would've done if they had finished the season feebly. The headlines about head coach Luis Pimenta was an unwelcome distraction, and the Stockholm club settled down a bit better once he left the club. But results were still very hit and miss and they will have to really work on their consistency if they are to have another crack at the division next season. Philip Hellquist led the way with some very important goals, none more so than his equaliser in Boras with just twenty minutes to play that seized the initiative back from their hosts in the penultimate game, and gave them the belief that they could go on and win the game which they duly did. There might be more to come from them in terms of Allsvenskan football, but they will have to put on a much better performance if they are to survive a second time. At present they are just hoping that they will get that opportunity.
