One of the stalwarts of the Super League, Sion will deliver turbulence more often than not and the Sitteners did not disappoint.
They had another up-and-down campaign that saw them have two managerial changes and ultimately finish below where they were hoping to finish.
The Sitteners did not struggle for goals early in the season despite losing top scorer Matheus Cunha last summer, but their overall form was not good enough and Maurizio Jacobacci was replaced by Murat Yakin as their manager.
Their form initially improved under the former Basel boss, but they entered a particularly nasty spell during the spring season and Yakin was replaced by a caretaker team that managed to just stir the Sitteners clear of finishing inside the bottom two.
Sion had a chance of finishing inside the top five until the very last round, but may have missed out on Europe even had they finished inside the European places, as they are currently under an UEFA ban that they now have no reason to appeal.
What is certain is that the Sitteners are set to have a very busy summer. A lot of players are expected to both come and go, while Cristian Constantin will also have to name a new manager, with Stephane Henchoz and Gennaro Gattuso reportedly being the main candidates to take over.
