Football Season Review

№19: Frosinone

History repeated itself for Frosinone as they were once again relegated straight back down to Serie B after just one season in the top flight. The same fate befell them when they were last promoted in the 2015/16 season and there were no real signs of progress for the Canarini who ended up with fewer points and fewer wins than last time. The worst statistic for them was their home record - winning just once at Stadio Benito Stirpe before they were relegated. Moreno Longo started the season in charge but was sacked in December after just a single win from the first 16 games of the season. Marco Baroni came in and did pick up some decent results in the second half of the season but not nearly enough to save the club. Only bottom side Chievo scored fewer and conceded more so Frosinone finished right where they should have. Camillo Ciano bagged a respectable 7 goals and was often chief creator too, especially from set-pieces. Andrea Pinamonti announced himself on the big stage with some fine cameos but the 20 year old will almost certainly either be going back to Inter Milan or find a home at another top flight club. Frosinone will hope to make another quick return to Serie A but next time they will have to come a lot better prepared if they want to stay at this level.
