Kidderminster have missed out on the play-offs in the final week of the season but can look back at a hugely encouraging campaign. It was Steve Burr's first full season in charge at Aggborough and the work he has done during the season will surely make him a target for some Football League clubs. The expectations were low for the cash-strapped Harriers at the start of the campaign and indeed the first six weeks of the season were fairly disappointing. However, the team was gradually finding its feet with Burr fine-tunning his best 11. Thus, game after game in the autumn, the Harriers started to generate points and managed to get into the play-offs places by early December. At that stage, they already had a reputation as a very strong home outfit with Chris McPhee equally impressive in midfield and attack and Matty Blair coming into the fore down the left wing. The spirit within the squad was visibly very high and this carried on into 2011 with the Harriers getting some vital results and keeping themselves in contention. They actually moved clear at fifth spot with main rivals Fleetwood in poor form and some dramatic wins, like a last-gasp 2:1 win at Cambridge in February, made the fans and players believe that this could be their year. All this was happening amidst the huge uncertainty over the future of the club due to financial irregularities and a five-point deduction handed out. It did not stop Kidderminster though who now had a real momentum and secured some superb results like beating AFC Wimbledon 2:1 away from home. Just when it looked like they will seal a play-off spot having gone 15 games without defeat, two losses in the space of a week at the hands of Darlington and Rushden & Diamonds ended the dream and the superb win over Fleetwood that was sandwiched between then was rendered void. It was still a great campaign for the club and the squad deserve a big credit as they massively exceeded expectations.
