NAC Breda's promotion to the Eredivisie was a bit unexpected as Stijn Vreven's outfit failed to show the necessary consistency during the 2016-2017 season in the Jupiler League, but their performances during the play-offs were good enough to seal the ticket for the Eredivisie. The club had to be creative to form the squad for the Eredivisie due to a lack of budget, which resulted in a relatively big amount of loan players in the Rat Verlegh Stadium. The passionate crowd in Breda pushed the team to their best level from time to time though and NAC did just enough at the end of the day to avoid the promotion/relegation play-offs. The 14th spot was more than decent though as Vreven secured the Eredivisie spot, which was the main mission this year.
NAC Breda's squad contained promising youngsters like Manu Garcia, Thierry Ambrose, Angelino and Pablo Mari, but they all joined the Breda team on loan, which isn't an ideal situation to be honest. NAC will have to form a new team again during the summer as the best players are set to leave the club again. Angelino and Manu Garcia especially managed to make a name for themselves in The Netherlands, but they aren't expected to return for another season.
Vreven, who sealed promotion to the Eredivisie with NAC and who secured the spot for another campaign, will leave the club during the summer, which is rather surprising. NAC Breda's summer mission isn't an easy one to say the least. They will have to find a new manager and their scouting staff will have to show their creativity again to form the squad for next season. Several loan players could join the Breda side again.
