Almere City finished last season as one of the in-form teams after a remarkable transformation in the spring. Yet a stunning loss on the last day of the season denied them a play-off spot and left a bitter feeling the squad after such a big effort to get there. Now Alex Pastoor looks to harness the energy that he generated with that strong run last season and get Almere firing from early on. It is clear that there is talent in this squad and the Black Sheep also made one of the most notable signings of any side in the division this season in bringing in former Nantes and Club Brugge winger Anthony Limbombe. he may have lost his form in recent years but he is still a prime-age player who only recently played against top-level opponents. A signing of that sort five Almere a major lift in terms of quality and they also moved in to bring other good new additions in forward Jeredy Hilterman and defender Damian van den Bruggen. There have been some departures too but mostly to players who were already at the end of their careers and did not contribute that much last season. The squad does look quite strong and ready for a challenge and the main issue is the mentality and the ability to be consistent during a long season.

The aim is to make the play-offs and they look capable.
