NAC Breda had a bit of a strange season last year as they too often lacked the cutting edge to make a real push at the top but at the same time seemed quite compact and solid, before eventually flaming out in the play-offs. There was little of the sort of off-field drama that characterised the failure to promote that followed last season but Edwin de Graaf was still dismissed after the loss and an experienced and much-travelled coach in Robert Molenaar takes over as his replacement. NAC have brought in some pretty good players in the summer for this level in Jort van der Sande, Boyd Luckassen and Alex Platt and they should become cornerstones of the starting 11. On the other hand, players like Ezechiel Banzuzi, Boris van Schupen and Kaj de Rooij showed real promise at times last season and have the platform to really push on and become decisive for the side. That builds a picture of a pretty functional and well-oiled team. That of course can do with a bit of quality in some areas, but do seem pretty well-placed to have a run at the top places if things break right early and they get some momentum.
