A slow start to the 2023/24 campaign saw Forest part ways with fan favourite Steve Cooper in December. Nuno was appointed and won 22 points from 21 matches - enough to hit the magic 40-point mark and secure safety despite receiving a four-point deduction. For yet another summer under the current administration, there’s been lots of activity in the transfer window in terms of both signings and departures. Several backup players have left, but the first-choice footballers have stayed put for the time being. Promising midfielder Elliot Anderson and solid defender Nikola Milenkovic have joined the club and they are both expected to be starters from the off. Despite being forced to comply with financial rules, Forest may proceed to more signings in order to add depth after parting ways with almost 20 players this summer. Nuno’s advantage this time will be that he’s been given the opportunity to oversee preseason preparation with the team he joined midseason. Their main strength lies in their spirit and international experience. Forest are probably one of the most multinational teams around and this fact along with previous relegation battle experiences result in a squad with a united collective mind and a refuse-to-lose attitude. Only four teams conceded fewer goals than Forest’s 67 last season and despite Milenkovic’s arrival, Nuno should work on his team’s defensive frailties in order to avoid a relegation battle.

Target

Securing safety and bettering their best position since they’ve returned to the Premier League (16th).
