A strong start to the 2023/24 season saw Spurs go unbeaten for the opening 10 matches under new coach Ange Postecoglou. Yet, Spurs picked up just 40 points from the final 28 matches of the season and missed out on Champions League qualification. Taking into account the circumstances and Harry Kane’s departure, Tottenham’s campaign was successful as they are set to return to European competition by clinching a Europa League spot. Dominic Solanke's arrival has been Spurs' biggest signing so far in the summer. Talented midfielder Archie Gray joined from Leeds, while relatively unknown players such as Lucas Bergvall and Min-hyeok Yang are here to add depth to the squad. Meanwhile, Spurs released several backup players, who barely earned playing time in the last couple of years. Postecoglou’s aura has won over fans and players at Tottenham, having already instilled his philosophy into the team. Spurs have strengthened their roster, but they may need better midfield protection and more competent defensive depth to have any chance of competing for a top-four finish next season. Despite losing Kane last season, their main strength lies in the versatility of their attacking options. Postecoglou has created a rich attacking line, with many talented players able to serve different styles depending on the needs of each game. Yet, the goals conceded from set-pieces stacked up last season and opponents increasingly found the holes in the Postecoglou system. These are a couple of areas Spurs should improve this term.
