Last season, they survived the drop because of two reasons; the poorness of Stade Lausanne-Ouchy, and the numerous players that they brought in that most clubs knew nothing about. Those somewhat scattergun approaches might not cut the mustard this season. There needs to be more of a direction, a more established starting eleven, and more consistency if they're to avoid a return to the Challenge League this season. The good news is that, at least at the time of writing this preview, they've kept hold of star striker Carlos, who was superb last season. They've also made Tasar's loan move into a permanent transfer, which is great business - before his bad injury, he was electric for them. They've understandably had to let at least some of their many players leave but the only one they could end up missing is midfielder Liziero. Still, there's enough depth so it's not the end of the world at this moment in time. There are still question marks over their defence as there doesn't seem to be a 'best' combination to keep opponents out - and they lost Del Fabro a week before the start of the campaign. They're short of options at RB/RWB too with Sauthier ageing and Loucif seemingly not counted on anymore following his loan spell at Lausanne-Sport. Indeed, the LWB position isn't ideal either - Le Pogam is only fancied there some of the time. Without competition, he tends to become a bit lazier. Defence is definitely their biggest weakness this season. Attack should be fine with Carlos, Tasar, and Mahious in the equation, and now wildcard Hugo Komano in the fold too. They were a little short of naturally creative midfielders in the middle of the park, hence the loan signing of Kacuri, so either Mangiarratti sets them up to control games or they're going to rely upon injury-prone Kacuri a lot - both are risks. There's not really enough depth in this squad though, not without sacrificing quality from rotating the better players out. This could be a bad year for Yverdon-Sport. Sooner or later, they will lose Carlos, and if Tasar plays like he can, it won't be long before someone else gives him another chance. Without those two players, this team will most likely be relegated. They need some good quality reinforcements and there have been precious few of them. Although still hard to beat at home, that may not be enough to keep them up. A slow start is likely - all of their new recruits arrived late.
