Just when it looked like the "real" Servette was back in business, boss Weiler announced he'd step down as manager following their Schweizer Pokal final victory against Lugano but that he'd remain at the club as Sporting Director. Thomas Häberli is the new manager, formerly of the Estonian national team and of Luzern so things could change quite drastically, and the likelihood is that they'll struggle at the start of the season because of it. In terms of their squad, they've largely remained intact. They'll miss the flexibility and industry of Bolla in general, and are now lacking a genuine backup RB for Tsunemoto, although Magnin can deputise there if necessary. That's their only real weak spot though, having brought in Bouzamoucha to compete with Severin and Rouiller for a CB spot. Midfield should be very strong again, especially with Douline back after a bad injury. Attack is a bit of a questionable zone for Servette right now though. Crivelli is a safe bet in terms of what he brings but Guillemenot only plays well with confidence, and he's barely had that since returning to his hometown. They've brought in von Moos on a free transfer to help out in that division but it's a coin toss, really. He's an excellent player but had so many injuries last season so it's hard to know what to expect from him. It's a relatively risk-free venture, given that there was no transfer fee, but it may not be the attacking solution they require for the long-departed Bedia. They'll still control games and press opponents ridiculously well, and that makes them top three candidates to me. Their midfield and defence can win them most matches, and they have two good experienced goalkeepers to boot. They're a good striker and a backup RB away from title contenders. It's not likely to happen this season, especially given their European commitments, but the reigning Schweizer Pokal champions will be a force as the season goes on.
