Alanya managed to do a great job in their first Super League season and achieved survival three weeks before the season’s end. Although they struggled in the away fixtures in the early weeks, their home performance kept them far from the relegation zone but the things did not go well early on in 2017 and the board decided to part company with coach Huseyin Kalpar. In his stead, coach Saffet Susic was appointed. Since he knew the league very well, he made a great impact on the team and they just lost to two title holders in his first two months. Although they collected just six points in the last seven fixtures, they had already collected enough points to stay away from the danger zone. Except the top four teams, they were the most scoring team of the league with fifty-four goals. Of course, former CSKA Moscow man Vagner Love was absolutely the man of the season as the experienced attacker scored twenty-three goals. Besides him, Emre Akbaba, Daniel Candeias and Junior Fernandes contribued to the offensive power of the team with goals & assists. To be an attacking minded team causes some defensive problems in general. That is what Alanya have faced during the whole season. Along with relegated Gaziantep, they were the most conceding team of the league. If they want to do better things in the next season, they will have to fix this problem. It is sure that they will probably bring more qualified defensive players. Another problem is that there is a great interest on their offensive staff. Some loanees will leave the team. At this point, to keep the offensive quality could be decisive for them.
