Luzern have been in a managerial limbo since losing Gerardo Seoane to Young Boys two years ago.
The Blues started the season with Thomas Haberli in charge following the good work he did in the second half of the previous campaign, but they found themselves battling against the drop and Haberli was relived of his duties at the end of the autumn season.
Fabio Celestini, a free agent following his departure from Lugano, was brought in and got off to a superb start, with Luzern displaying title-winning form early in his reign. Although they were obviously unable to keep this up and ended the campaign with a poor run of form, their huge injury crisis had certainly contributed to this.
While failing to deliver an European qualifying finish in the league, Celestini has certainly shown that this Luzern side is capable of playing attractive and effective football and their fans will be eagerly waiting to see what he can do next time around, in his first full season in charge.
