St.Gallen produced the best season they have had in years, as they finished second and spent a large chunk of it at the top of the table.
The Aspeners entered the campaign as the league's major unknown, as Peter Zeidler boldly entered the season with a side severely lacking in Super League experience.
The youth of their players really showed early on - both through the desire they showed and their naivety, but there was less and less of the latter as time elapsed. St.Gallen started to climb up the table, with poor forms of Young Boys and Basel allowing them to even lead the league.
However, they entered a difficult run of form very late in the campaign and this, compared with Young Boys managing to string together a run of wins, resulted in them finishing second, losing all hopes of winning the title with a game left.
They will obviously be disappointed to miss out on the title after coming so close, but things need to be put into perspective. They were never expected to be anywhere near where they finished before the season started and the campaign behind them can only be seen as a highly successful one.
