Football Season Review

№9: Toronto FC

It was the third time within the last four years that TFC faced the Sounders for the MLS Cup final and it was the second time that the Canadians ended up with empty hands. But overall the season could be described as successful. Having the 9th overall record and reaching the final it is of course a great achievement for TFC especially considering that they played all their playoff matches except the first one against DC United, on the road. The great level of passing accuracy was the primary weapon for TFC reaching an average of 85% per match, making very difficult to the opponent to have the ball in their feet. As a result TFC were dominating possession and reached the levels of 83.6% in average. Altidore could be the MVP of the season but an injury at the playoffs made him unavailable in most of the critical matches. Pozuelo replaced him in a very efficient way at the edge of the attack so ending up with 14 goals scored and 10 assists served, he is inarguably the MVP of TFC for this season. Having participated in 3 out of last 4 MLS Cup finals, there's not other ambition for TFC than win the trophy again.
