Samsun have really struggled when they returned to the top level years later. They had only one point in early 7 fixtures but then coach Gisdol arrived and enabled newly promoted side grab enough points to survive but experienced coach has declared that he will not be in charge for 2024/25 season. He probably foresaw the future because the club were given two-term transfer ban. That is why they have been unable to add any new player this season. No doubt that it is not a good new for new coach Thomas Reis who has worked for Bochum for a long time. He has not been working since 2023’s September. He believes that the ban is not a disadvantage for themselves but to survive is their top priority. The good news is that they have saved the main structure of the last season but they have lost some support players. This could be a slight problem for the whole season considering injuries and bans. Last season, they have offered a very strong performane at home and were one of the strongest performers at home. Most their points were collected in the front of their fans. There are three center-backs in the current squad and one of them is only 20 years old. In this point, the German coach should take a look at returned loanees and academy. If the new coach can repeat the last season’s chemistry at home and collect more points on road, they should have no problem with almost unchanged squad.

Target

As the coach said, the survival should be the biggest target considering transfer ban. The cup could be used to make young players to gain some experience.
