Football Season Guide

Trabzon won the bronze medals last season. They finished full 36 and 33 points behind the top 2 teams though, so they were simply the best of the rest. The start to the previous season was not great but once Avci took over in late October everything improved. Trabzon defended better and were scoring more goals in the spring. Hopes are that now with a full summer of preparation under Avci the displays will improve further. The first important task will be to find a new reliable goalscorer. Last season’s main striker Onuachu returned to his parent club after contributing 15 league goals. Signed Denis Drăguș as his replacement but he hasn’t been a prolific striker for years. It seems Maxi Gomez and Bozok, both out of favour last season, might be given the opportunity to impress before Trabzon decide if they need to look for another striker. The only other notable player to leave so far is the right-back Meunier. Considering, he only joined in January this is not a major issue. Also, Trabzon already found their new regular for the role in the recently signed Malheiro. Another solid new defender Savic is also expected to be playing often. The midfield line was boosted too. All of Lundstram, Yokuslu and Tufan came from Britain and they will provide excellent support for Mendy and Visca. Winger Mislav Orsic was signed last summer but he spent 8 months of the previous campaign out injured. Orsic is fully fit now and he should become a vital contributor in attack. If he can rediscover his form from before his bad knee injury Orsic could be the star player for Trabzon in attack this season.
