Tromsø scraped to safety last season by the skin of their teeth, ultimately finishing at 14th by the virtue of better goal difference to Haugesund. They struggled to find form and consistency throughout the year and found goals very hard to come by. The defence managed to carry them through in the vital few matches at the end and they just about did enough but claiming that the season was a success would be a rather delusional statement given how high they were flying the year prior. Isak Vik has been given another season to prove that he is the manager to lead the team long term and have what it takes to succeed and he will be definitely looking to get more buy-in from his squad and make them a more effective and attacking fluent side. The club did invest in an interesting new striker, Angolan Ieltson Cimoes, who comes off two good seasons in the Swedish second division with Brage, where he has scored nine and 13 goals respectively, but he will need to lift his game he is to be an important contributor to the team. The other notable new addition is veteran defender Ruben Kristiansen, who played at a high level at title-chasing Brann last season and as long his body is not letting him down, he could be a very good and valuable addition at the back. Lasse Nordas and Mamadou Barry went overseas for big money and while they will be missed, nether of them was really that integral or irreplaceable in the team and the general quality of the squad should not go down that much. Thus, Tromsø have the squad to be pretty comfortable in mid-table and the coach is the one that has more questions and uncertainties about him rather than any particular player.

Target

Securing a place in mid-table and not battle against relegation.
