Bournemouth had another decent, if not great, campaign that saw the team failing to sort out their defensive frailties from years past, but scoring enough goals and earning enough points at home to pretty much stay out of trouble all throughout.
Decisive for the easy ride were the opening 10 rounds in which the Cherries achieved 6 wins and 2 draws, a points accumulation that was enough to keep them safe for the rest of the campaign.
With many injuries to defenders throughout the campaign it was almost impossible for Bournemouth to look solid at the back and this was exposed mainly in their away games. They had a five-month period during which 12 consecutive away defeats were suffered.
However, going forward things looked well, with King chipping in goals from time to time. The main threat though turned out to be the newly formed partnership between Fraser and Wilson with both of them assisting each other for 10+ goals.
Lerma also had a solid first season in England in the heart of the midfield, and the fact that he was so willingly doing most of the dirty work was why the forward players had so much freedom to do their thing without thinking much about defensive duties.
The core of the squad is strong in terms of the future, but it is yet to be seen if talismanic manager Howe will stay put for next season, plus 3-4 of the important players are expected to be tempted by bigger clubs and this could create problems.
