Football Season Review

№17: Fulham

This was a desperately poor season for Fulham who never even briefly looked like a side that could win back their Premier League spot. Felix Magath started the season as boss but his principles proved difficult for players to adapt to and he was axed after a couple of months with his side struggling. Replacement Kit Symons did a solid but unspectacular job in ensuring Fulham reached a lower mid-table slot but this was a season of dramatic under-achievement and Symons will face pressure to put his side back in the promotion contenders next season. Despite spending a seven figure fee to bring in Ross McCormack last summer, the forward enjoyed a decent season with 19 goals and he was the one shining light on a poor campaign. While goalscoring was not an issue, the defence most certainly was. 83 goals conceded was woeful with 45 coming away from home, only Blackpool who finished bottom had a worse record than that.
