Worst campaign in over a decade with first ever relegation a real threat, before eventually winning in the playoffs. Went through 3 head coaches, which included a prolonged caretaker period after sacking Petrescu early in the season. A campaign to forget. New manager Gus Poyet has come in but changes have been slow with only a few incomings. Move to replace outgoing goalkeeper with former number one was swift and decisive with Song returning to the club. Still expect some incomings. The squad that failed last season are good enough to compete in the league and it will likely go down as poor recruitment and team management that saw their poor 2024. So expect a revival this season but a title challenge feels unlikely. Attacking talent is among the best in the league but fitting all that talent into a cohesive outfit has been a challenge with the previous coaches more pragmatic than expected, but on paper it's a strength. Defensively they were awful last season, both individually and as a team. It remains to be seen whether the new additions and coaching can address this.
