Liverpool had another inconsistent season. On their day they were a match for anyone, but all too often they were not at their best. An eighth place finish will have to be viewed as a disappointment, but following the dismissal of Brendan Rodgers early in the season, and the appointment of Jurgen Klopp in early October, the season was already a little bit of a write off. Klopp would certainly seem to now be bringing things in the right direction, whereas Rodgers looked out of his depth long before the club eventually gave him the push. Getting to the Europa League Final was a good achievement, but their second half performance was awful and they did not deserve to lift the trophy. There are plenty of reasons to be positive however. Emre Can, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Phil Coutinho and Divock Origi all look much better players under Klopp and with Danny Ings and Joe Gomez to return from injury ahead of next season, the Reds already look stronger. Klopp will also have money to spend in the off-season.
