After an eighth placed finish in 2014/2015, there was a good feeling around Swansea City ahead of the new season. However, the Swans started the season ever so poorly and manager Garry Monk was sacked in December after a run of just one win from eleven Premier League games. At that point in time the club were just a point clear of the drop zone. Alan Curtis stepped in and at the half way stage of the season nothing much had changed. Francesco Guidolin replaced Curtis in the middle of January and slowly but surely things began to improve somewhat. They played some good football in the final third of the season and finished the season in decent form with just two defeats in their final eight games. The club then appointed Guidolin on a permanent basis at the end of the season. Ashley Williams and Gylfi Sigurdsson were once again big players for the Welsh side, with Sigurdsson's goals and all round creative play key to the upturn in results. An American group completed a takeover of the club just recently and has been welcomed by most fan groups.
