Football Season Review

№9: Millwall

Millwall enjoyed a very successful first season back in the second tier. Kenny Jackett’s Lions were also in with a shout of a top six finish in the home straight, only narrowly missing out to sixth-placed Nottingham Forest. At both ends of the pitch Millwall were efficient, conceding just 48 goals over the course of the season, while leading scorer Steve Morison made the step up to the Championship with ease notching 15 goals in his first ever season at this level. Midfielder Liam Trotter also caught the eye over the course of the campaign with his box-to-box all-action style endearing him to the New Den faithful. Keeping hold of their best players will be the biggest challenge for Kenny Jackett, but Morison is expected to join Norwich City leaving Millwall a little short up-front. The Lions could well be victims of their own success this season by losing their key men to bigger teams. Nevertheless, Lions supporters will be delighted with the way their side has acquitted themselves with plenty to look forward to for 2011/12.

Player of the Season: Steve Morison
