Wolfsburg produced an impressive season under coach Oliver Glasner and were eventually rewarded with a Champions League spot.
The Wolves greatly improved their consistency from the previous campaign and remained unbeaten for the first 11 games. They were solid defensively, conceding just 37 goals in 34 games and excelled at home, losing just 3 times.
Their final position in the table could have been greater, if it wasn’t for their poor results against the top sides. Wolfsburg picked up just 5 points out of a possible 24 against the top five clubs.
Wolfsburg crashed out of the Europa League in the qualifying stage but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as they put all their efforts into a solid league campaign.
Glasner was to rarely change his starting eleven throughout and it seemed to work wonders.
Weghorst continued to be a hit in front of goal, netting 20 in the league overall, while Brooks and Lacroix proved to be a solid partnership in central defence.
Key man from the previous season, Guilavogui, regularly found himself on the bench due to the impressive form of Arnold and Schlager in midfield.
Speculation is already rife on the future of coach Glasner but if they can keep him at the helm and add a few additions, they can again have a successful campaign in 21/22.
