In spite of an upturn in form across March and April, Vincent Kompany failed to keep Burnley in the Premier League last season. The former Manchester City captain has now moved on to bigger things as he manages Bayern Munich. At Turf Moor, Scott Parker will now take the reins with Burnley back in the second tier. The Clarets have completed substantial acquisitions over the summer as they bid for an instant return back to the top-flight. Last season’s loan deals for Mike Tresor and Maxime Esteve have now been made permanent, while money has been spent on the likes of Lucas Pires and Andreas Hountondji, too. As for outgoings, Arijanet Muric has been the primary sale as he has now moved to Ipswich Town. However, there should be no issues in goal for Burnley as they still have James Trafford in the squad, and they signed Vaclav Hladky from Ipswich as well. Last season’s top goalscorer in the league in Jacob Bruun Larsen has returned to Hoffenheim, though, but the club should still have enough going forward in the likes of Lyle Foster, Zeki Amdouni, Wilson Odobert, Hountondji and Tresor. Josh Brownhill will remain a key figure in the midfield.

Target

Burnley still have one of the strongest squads in the league, and should be aiming for an automatic promotion spot. If they fail to reach the play-offs, it will be a disaster.
