Danny Röhl somehow managed to pull off an escape for Sheffield Wednesday last season as they narrowly avoided the drop and secured their place in the Championship for the 2024/25 campaign. In his first job as head coach, Röhl has shown promising signs. He transformed this Sheffield Wednesday team into a very competitive side in a short space of time, and whilst dealing with a number of injury issues last term to boot. The January loan addition of forward Ike Ugbo was a huge asset in the Owls’ survival as he scored seven goals for the side. However, he has now returned to Troyes so he will be a big loss up top. There’s been further changes to the squad, too, with the likes of Will Vaulks, Juan Delgado and George Byers all departing. At one point, all three were regulars in the team last season. However, additions have come in the form of Olaf Kabacki, Yan Valery, Max Lowe, Jamal Lowe, Svante Ingelsson and Nathaniel Chalobah, who should all help bolster the ranks. An impressive loan spell by goalkeeper James Beadle has seen him return to Hillsborough for the next season. He displaced Cameron Dawson in between the sticks last term, who has now left the club to join Rotherham. Ben Hamer will also provide competition in goal for Wednesday after signing from Watford.

Target

Avoid a relegation battle and advance towards mid-table.
