A seismic play-off run was not to be emulated last season for Coventry City as Mark Robins continues to lead the charge. The Sky Blues came close to another play-off push, but they fizzled out towards the end of the campaign, losing six of their final eight league outings. Haji Wright and Ellis Simms were the key forwards for Coventry last term as they scored 16 and 13 league goals respectively. The pair remain at the club and will be expected to be key once more. Meanwhile, Ben Sheaf will continue to anchor the midfield. The club has seen some sizeable investment, too, in the form of Jack Rudoni, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Luis Binks, Oliver Dovin and Raphael Borges Rodrigues. That will help offset the departures of the likes of Callum O’Hare, Liam Kelly and Matty Godden. At one point, O’Hare was considered a key player in the side, but he lost his place in the team at the end of last season as rumours about his future continued to cast doubt. The arrival of Rudoni in particular should help improve the midfield options. Thomas-Asante, who scored 11 league goals for West Brom last term, will provide greater options going forward. That should mean the departure of Godden won’t be felt too hard.
